Y-Change is a program at the YMCA that focuses on exercise and nutrition and basically overall health. Anyone can join but it is free if you are a member. There is a lot of accountability involved which is something that we really need!
We meet with our group on Tuesday night for class. The first night we got weighed and measured by our coach Lilyann. She is one of those super bubbly happy people and we really like her. Then we met all of the people in our group and talked about what the program would be like. The goal is to work out 5-6 times a week and write down everything we eat with the goal of staying within a certain calorie range. Obviously we would like to lose weight through this program, but we're not dieting. As Lil would say, we're going to eat a little less and move a little more. We log our workouts and turn in our food logs for accountability purposes and we have classes on nutrition. It's amazing how many calories we are really eating because of portion sizes.
We meet three times a week for group workouts and try to get the other ones in on our own. The workouts are tough but they change each week so it is interesting to learn what all of these different classes are like. I'm excited we are doing this journey together and we have an awesome coach to get us through. We are both trying to lose 12 lbs in the 6 week program. We'll probably join another group when this is over to keep going!
